Caring for our carers

If you are caring for a loved one who is living with Parkinson’s, then the Carers NSW web site is well worth a visit.

Among other goals, Carers NSW aims to actively promote carer recognition and support, and support carers to navigate a changing service landscape.

This organisation also promotes connected community experiences and opportunities for carers that are inclusive of diverse carer groups

The Look After Yourself section of the Carers NSW web site is extremely useful:

CARERS NSW – LOOK AFTER YOUSELF

It includes information and advice on:

  • Managing stress, conflict, lack of support and social isolation
  • Eating well and choosing healthy foods for busy people
  • Finding time to exercise, including getting started and finding an activity right for you

For further advice on these topics, you can also call the Parkinson’s NSW InfoLine on 1800 644 189.

It is staffed by experienced Parkinson’s Registered Nurses. We also have an Exercise Physiologist, counsellors, and NDIS Advocate and a Social Worker available to support you.
