Support Group network continues to grow

Support Group network continues to grow

Parkinson’s NSW has more than 87 Support Groups, including 17 Carer Support Groups. Of those, 25 Groups are in metropolitan areas and 62 are in regional and rural locations.

There are also an additional three virtual Support Groups operating via Facebook.

Now the network is experiencing a further growth spurt with more than 10 new Groups being set up or planned.

New metropolitan groups are planned for Bankstown, Belmore, and Concord.

Additional regional Groups planned for two towns in Northern NSW following the planned appointment of new community-based Parkinson’s Specialist Nurse in that region. Recruitment for that role is currently underway.

New regional groups are already meeting in Henty/Culcairn, Inverell, and Kempsey.

Two additional Carers Groups are also being planned – one in the Inner West of Sydney and one for Ballina.
