Support Group Round Up August 2026

By Stacey Foster, Support Group Coordinator

Welcome to the August Support Group round up.

Over the past 12 months we have been working to establish two new Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) Support Groups.

I am pleased to confirm that the Vietnamese Bilingual Support Group has been running for a few months now and the Arabic Bilingual Support Group plans to have its first meeting later this month.

Both groups are based in South West Sydney and are run by qualified Vietnamese and Arabic bilingual community educators.

If you know of anyone in these communities that are experiencing Parkinson’s, either living with it, caring for someone, or a family member and would benefit from information, connection and support, please encourage them to contact Parkinson’s NSW 1800 727 567 or supportgroups@parkinsonsnsw.org.au.

In addition to these new CALD groups, we have also been working with the South West Sydney LHD Health Literacy and Health Language Services teams, within Multicultural Services to expand our Parkinson’s information sheets into languages other than English.

We have nine revised and updated Parkinson’s resources that are being translated initially into Simplified Chinese, Arabic and Vietnamese. They are undergoing final revisions, and we are looking forward to sharing them with our Parkinson’s community in the coming months.
