Brian Sherman Awards Terms and Conditions 

  1. Nominations for each category of the Awards must be submitted via this web page. Each nomination requires the name and contact details of the nominee and the nominator, along with the history and contributions of the nominees prompted by specific questions on the entry form. 
  2. Employees and Board Members of Parkinson’s NSW are not eligible for these Awards. 
  3. Volunteers and Support Group Leaders and participants are eligible for nomination for these Awards. 
  4. Deadline for nominations is February 27, 2026 
  5. The entry form will solicit commitments and confirmation of shared values with the Sherman family i.e. critical thinking, fact-based approaches, thoughtful communications, open and respectful discussion or debate, inclusion, integrity, diversity, and empathy, kindness and compassion. 
  6. Confirmation will also be required of candidates’ external communications and social media presence in order to allow a review of ethics and values displayed through these media. The emphasis will be on identifying core values being demonstrated both in words and actions. 
  7. The senior management team of Parkinson’s NSW will formally review all nominations in minuted meetings. It will then produce a list of nominations which best fit the criteria of the Awards to be forwarded to the Sherman family for their review and final decision. 
  8. The Sherman family’s decisions will be final. 
  9. Winners and runners up will be formally notified in writing and invited to attend an awards ceremony in Sydney without disclosing exactly what they have won.  
  10. Specifics of each Award will be held in confidence until announcements are made at the ceremony.  
  11. The Awards ceremony will be attended by representatives of the Sherman family and a nominated representative of the family will be invited to announce and present the prizes.  
  12. The ceremony will be arranged by the Sherman Family with support from Parkinson’s NSW. It will be accompanied by media and marketing support via the same channels used to promote the Awards program at the beginning of the process.
