Celebrating World Parkinson’s Day at Government House

This year, Parkinson’s NSW celebrated World Parkinson’s Day with our Patron, His Excellency General The Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Ret’d) and Mrs. Hurley at Government House.

Over 100 guests attended this auspicious event including support group leaders, esteemed supporters of Parkinson’s NSW, politicians including the Honourable Paul Toole, Member for Bathurst and Minister for Lands, Forestry and Racing, the Honourable Andrew Gee, Member for Calare and The Honourable Mrs. Leslie Williams, Member for Port Macquarie, Parliamentary Secretary for Regional and Rural Health.

Other distinguished guests included Mr. Stewart Dowrick, CEO of the Mid North Coast Local Health District, various doctors, Professors of Nursing from Charles Sturt University and Parkinson’s NSW Board Members.

On the day, Parkinson’s NSW President, Mr. David Veness, was delighted to announce, that in conjunction with the Mid North Coast Local Health District the appointment of a new Neurological Nurse in the Port Macquarie Area.

Enormous thanks must be given to our hosts Governor Hurley and Mrs. Hurley for opening their wonderful home to us and allowing us to enjoy the grandeur and history of Government House.
