Statewide SG Leaders Meeting 2009

Parkinson's NSW Incorporated is a non-profit,
community-based organisation established in 1979 to provide information, counselling and support to people living with Parkinson's disease.

The Statewide Support Group Leaders Meeting provided the opportunity for our support group leaders to gain new group skills, information about Parkinson's disease and the treatments available, current research and an opportunity to share skills and knowledge between support group leaders. The two day meeting enabled leaders to participate in formal sessions but also to socialize and develop networks. Members were encouraged to share interests, hobbies, sporting activities and ways of staying connected to their local community.

The 30th Birthday of Parkinson's support in Australia was celebrated with a dinner sponsored by Novartis at North Ryde RSL on Thursday 2nd July. The meal was delicious and the after dinner speech by Professor John Morris and Dr Ron Joffe highlighted 30 years of medical progress in the treatment of Parkinson's. It was insightful and light hearted and the members loved it.
